How Codelle works
The AI drafts. CMS rules decide.
Generic AI tools invent codes that don't exist and quote policies that retired years ago, because they pull from whatever was on the internet when they were trained. Codelle works the other way around. Every CPT®, ICD-10, HCPCS code, NCCI edit, MUE limit, fee, and LCD comes from current CMS and AMA sources we maintain. The AI is locked to that set.
Who decides what
| Which codes the note supports | AI |
| Which sentence justifies each code | AI |
| Whether two codes have an NCCI conflict | CMS NCCI |
| The Medicare fee for a code | CMS RVU × your locality |
| MUE unit limits, age/sex edits, effective dates | CMS files |
| LCD coverage in your jurisdiction | CMS Local Coverage DB |
| E/M level from MDM elements | AMA 2021+ rules |
The AI suggests; CMS rules verify. The AI never tells you a claim will pay: that answer comes from the checks that run after the draft.
What we don't do
- We don't let the AI invent codes from memory. It picks from our database.
- We don't search the open web at draft time.
- We don't train AI on your patient notes.
- We don't hide the source: every suggestion shows where it came from.
