Terms of Service
Last updated: July 8, 2026
Service description
Codelle is a medical coding reference and AI assistant tool. It provides access to ICD-10, CPT®, HCPCS, and related code sets along with fee schedule data, crosswalk lookups, and AI-assisted search. Codelle is designed to help healthcare professionals and medical billers find and verify codes efficiently. It is a reference tool, not a substitute for professional judgment or official coding guidance.
Accounts
To access certain features you must create an account. You agree to provide accurate, current information during sign-up and to keep that information up to date. One account per person; you may not share your account credentials with others. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
CPT® content and AMA license
The Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) content available through Codelle is licensed to us by the American Medical Association (AMA) under a CPT Data Files License Agreement, and is sublicensed to you as an End User of Codelle (a Licensed Product under that agreement). The following terms govern your use of CPT content and are required by our license with the AMA.
CPT copyright 2025 American Medical Association. All rights reserved. CPT is a registered trademark of the American Medical Association.
1. Ownership. CPT content is copyrighted by the American Medical Association, and CPT is a registered trademark of the AMA.
2. Your license to CPT content. As a party to a license agreement with the AMA, Codelle grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to use CPT content within Codelle, for the sole purpose of your own internal use, and only within the Territory licensed by the AMA (which includes the United States and its territories). If our license agreement with the AMA terminates or expires, Codelle will notify you; you may continue to use the CPT content within Codelle for the remainder of the year of the then-current annual release — that is, through the end of the applicable calendar year (the “End User Tail Period”). Your continued use during the End User Tail Period is conditioned on your continued compliance with all of your obligations under these Terms. When the End User Tail Period ends, the license granted to you under these Terms automatically terminates.
3. Updates depend on our AMA relationship. Our ability to provide you with updated CPT content within Codelle depends on Codelle maintaining a continuing contractual relationship with the AMA.
4. What you may not do with CPT content. You are prohibited from:
- making CPT content publicly available;
- creating derivative works (including translating) of the CPT content; and
- transferring, selling, leasing, licensing, or otherwise making available the CPT content — or any copy or portion of it — to any unauthorized party, including a subsidiary, affiliate, or other legal entity, however designated, for any purpose whatsoever except as expressly permitted under these Terms.
You also may not remove or obscure any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notice associated with CPT content, and you may not broadcast, display, or make CPT content available in any unsecured environment or public computer-based information system, including the internet.
5. CPT content is provided “as is.” To the extent permitted by applicable law, you expressly acknowledge and agree that your use of the CPT content is at your sole risk and that the CPT content is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. The AMA does not directly or indirectly practice medicine or dispense medical services. Fee schedules, relative value units, conversion factors and/or related components are not assigned by the AMA, are not part of CPT, and the AMA is not recommending their use.The CPT content does not replace the AMA’s Current Procedural Terminology book or other appropriate coding authority. The coding information contained in the CPT content should be used only as a guide.
6. Records, royalty information, and verification. You are required to keep records and submit reports containing the information necessary to calculate the royalties payable to the AMA by Codelle, of the same type Codelle is required to keep under its license with the AMA. You consent to the release of that information to the AMA. You further agree to provide, without delay, any additional information that the AMA (as a third-party beneficiary of these Terms) may reasonably request to verify that information. Nothing in this section requires you to submit or release information that would cause you to violate applicable federal or state privacy laws.
7. U.S. Government End Users. CPT is commercial technical data, which was developed exclusively at private expense by the American Medical Association (AMA), 330 North Wabash Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60611. This agreement does not grant the Federal Government a direct license to use CPT based on FAR 52.227-14 (Data Rights – General) and DFARS 252.227-7015 (Technical Data – Commercial Items).
8. Responsibility for authorized access. You must ensure that anyone you allow to access Codelle under your account complies with the provisions of these Terms.
9. AMA is a third-party beneficiary. The AMA is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and may enforce the CPT-content provisions of these Terms directly.
10. Consent to release your name to the AMA. You expressly consent to the release of your name to the AMA.
Applicable FARS/DFARS restrictions apply to government use. Fee schedules, relative value units, conversion factors and/or related components are not assigned by the AMA, are not part of CPT, and the AMA is not recommending their use. The AMA does not directly or indirectly practice medicine or dispense medical services. The AMA assumes no liability for data contained or not contained herein.
