Apply this code for patients presenting for initial treatment of injuries (e.g., blast injuries, shrapnel wounds, burns) directly attributable to a terrorist-instigated explosion. This includes scenarios where the patient was at the site of the detonation or in its immediate vicinity.

• Always assign this code as a primary diagnosis when the terrorism event is the direct cause of the encounter.
• Remember the "A" at the end signifies an initial encounter for active treatment of the injury.
• Code all specific injuries sustained (e.g., fractures, open wounds, burns) in addition to this external cause code.
