• Ensure documentation specifies the type of tobacco product (other than cigarettes) and the specific nicotine-induced disorder.
• Do not use this code for nicotine dependence from cigarettes (F17.21-) or for nicotine dependence without an associated nicotine-induced disorder (F17.290).
• Code the specific nicotine-induced disorder (e.g., F17.298 with F15.90 for nicotine-induced anxiety disorder) if applicable and separately identifiable.
