Apply this code when documentation clearly indicates a diagnosis of cannabis abuse without mention of dependence, tolerance, or withdrawal. This is appropriate for patients exhibiting maladaptive patterns of cannabis use, such as recurrent use in hazardous situations or continued use despite persistent social or interpersonal problems caused or exacerbated by the effects of cannabis.
