This diagnosis is typically made following abnormal Pap test results and subsequent colposcopic examination. Supporting documentation includes pathology reports confirming AIS or severe dysplasia limited to the endocervical glands.

• Differentiate from squamous cell carcinoma in situ of the exocervix (D06.1) or other cervical regions.
• Ensure the pathology report explicitly states "endocervix" and "carcinoma in situ" or "adenocarcinoma in situ."
