• Always code the highest degree of burn when multiple degrees are present at the same site.
• Do not use this code for burns involving the eyeball; refer to codes in the 940.0 series for ocular burns.
• Sequence this code as a primary diagnosis when the burn is the reason for the encounter, or as a secondary diagnosis when it's a co-existing condition.
