Encntr for exam and obs fol alleged adult physical abuse

This code is used when an adult patient presents for an assessment and monitoring after an allegation of physical abuse has been made. The purpose of the encounter is to evaluate for injuries or other health concerns related to the alleged abuse, without a definitive diagnosis of abuse being confirmed at the time of the visit.

Apply this code when a patient is seen in the emergency department, clinic, or hospital for an examination following a report or suspicion of physical abuse, but the abuse itself has not yet been substantiated. This is appropriate for initial evaluations where the medical team is gathering information and assessing the patient's condition.

• Do not use this code if the physical abuse is confirmed; instead, refer to codes in the T74.- category.
• Distinguish from alleged sexual abuse, which has a separate dedicated code.
• If abuse is suspected but not ruled out, and the encounter is not solely for examination and observation, consider codes from the T76.- category.
