Anuria and oliguria

This code represents a significant reduction or complete cessation of urine output. Anuria is the absence of urine production, while oliguria refers to urine output less than 400-500 mL in 24 hours. These conditions are critical indicators of impaired renal function or severe dehydration.

Use this code when documentation explicitly states anuria or oliguria as a presenting symptom or diagnosis, and it is not a complication of pregnancy, abortion, or the puerperium. This code is appropriate for cases of acute kidney injury, severe dehydration, or obstructive uropathy where these conditions are noted.
