Congenital displaced lens

This code describes a congenital anomaly where the crystalline lens of the eye is not in its normal anatomical position. Use this code when documentation explicitly states a congenital displacement or subluxation of the lens. This diagnosis is typically made during an ophthalmic examination, often in infancy or early childhood, and supported by findings such as iridodonesis or phacodonesis. It is appropriate for cases not acquired through trauma or other disease processes.

• Differentiate from acquired lens dislocation (H27.1x) which is not congenital.
• Specify laterality if documented (e.g., Q12.11 for right eye, Q12.12 for left eye, Q12.13 for bilateral).
• Code any associated visual impairments or complications, such as amblyopia or glaucoma, as secondary diagnoses.
