Acquired deformity of neck

This code describes a non-congenital structural abnormality or malformation of the cervical spine or surrounding soft tissues that results in an atypical shape or alignment of the neck. This can manifest as a visible curvature, asymmetry, or other deviation from normal anatomical presentation.

Use this code for documented acquired conditions such as torticollis (excluding congenital), cervical kyphosis or scoliosis developed after birth, or other deformities resulting from trauma, disease, or degenerative processes. Documentation should clearly specify the acquired nature of the deformity and its location in the neck.

• Differentiate carefully from congenital deformities of the neck (Q67.5).
• Specify the underlying cause if known and documented, such as post-traumatic or post-surgical, using an additional code.
• Do not use for transient neck pain or stiffness without a documented structural deformity.
