This code signifies the lasting effects or residual conditions resulting from a past tuberculosis infection that affected organs other than the respiratory system. These sequelae are chronic and persist even after the active tuberculosis infection has been successfully treated or is no longer present. Examples include scarring, organ damage, or functional impairment in non-pulmonary sites.

Apply this code when documentation clearly indicates a patient is experiencing a current condition directly attributable to a resolved tuberculosis infection in an extrapulmonary site (e.g., bone, kidney, lymph nodes, central nervous system). The medical record must specify the link between the current condition and the prior non-respiratory TB.

• Do not use this code for active tuberculosis infections; instead, code the specific active TB site.
• Always sequence this code after the code for the specific manifestation of the sequela (e.g., if there's kidney damage from past renal TB, code the kidney damage first, then this sequela code).
• Carefully differentiate from B90.9, which is exclusively for sequelae of respiratory tuberculosis.
